Dental Crowns

Dental crowns are often considered a staple of modern dentistry. These incredible dental prosthetics can accomplish a host of jobs. They can be used to cover cavities, fill in missing gaps, protect damaged teeth, and more. It’s no wonder many dentists rely on dental crowns to remedy their patients’ dental issues.

Traditional Crown Drawbacks

Traditional dental crowns can take weeks to make. First, a mold must be taken of your mouth. Many patients reported that the mold was sticky to the touch and unpleasant to the taste. After the mold is made, it is sent off to a lab. Typically, it takes up to two weeks for the lab to create your customized crown. During that waiting period, you must wear a replacement crown. These replacement crowns sometimes have a hard time matching the shade and shape of your teeth, making dental work obvious.

At Arrowhead Foothills Dentistry, we understand how time-consuming this process can be. That’s why we’ve invested in the revolutionary CEREC machine to help better assist our patients. CEREC stands for “Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics.” This cutting-edge technology can create dental crowns in a single appointment!

CEREC Process

Skip the lengthy waiting period. Instead, opt for a CEREC crown. To create your CEREC crown, your dentist will take 3D images and X-rays of your teeth. Then, the CEREC machine will use the 3D imaging to create a mold of your mouth. Finally, it will mill out your porcelain crown. Additionally, your porcelain crown will be colored and crafted to match the rest of your teeth. This helps ensure that your crown blends in seamlessly with your smile.

In just a single appointment, you can receive your dental crown – thanks to the CEREC machine. If you would like to learn more about dental crowns, call our office. We would be happy to answer any questions you may have about CEREC. We look forward to working with you and helping you enhance your smile! Call today to schedule an appointment!
